Mother is the happiest person on the earth when she gives birth to a daughter. Her daughter is a little gudiya with whom she relives her childhood. In this poem mother expresses her love on daughter's marriage.
Usually in a daughters marriage, mother is hesitant to dance or participate in lady sangeet. She can recite this poem and give her daughter an eternal gift.
आँखें मूंदे मेरी गोद में, जब तू पहली बार आई,
तेरी किलकारियों से मन में, गूँजी शेहनाई |
एक प्यारी मुस्कान से तूने, घर में खुशियां फैलाई,
यह देख मेरी आँख न जाने क्यों भर आई||
पहेली बार तूने चलना शुरू किया,
मेरी गोद से उतर कर सितारों को छू लिया|
मीठी बोली से जब तूने माँ कहकर आवाज़ लगाई,
यह सुन कर मेरी आँख नजाने क्यों भर आई ||
मेरी लड़ो मेरी प्यारी बिटिया है तू,
मेरे दिल का अजीज टुकड़ा है तू|
मेरी आन मेरी शान मेरा गुरुर है तू,
पर जब दुनिया की रीत मुझे याद आई,
बेटी को देनी होती है विदाई,
न जाने क्यों मेरी आँख भर आई|
इतने वर्ष बाद आज वो शुभ घडी आई है,
मेरी बिटिया के हाथों में मेहंदी रंग लायी |
गाजे बाजे है, खुशियां है, बज रही है शहनाई,
पर देख तेरी डोली को यह आँख फिर भर आई ||
तू अब तक तो थी जान मेरे आंगन की,
अब शान बन कर रहना ससुराल के प्रागन की|
हर रिश्ते को बेटी मेरी खूबसूरती से निभाएगी,
प्यार से सेतु से नए परिवार से जुड़ जाएगी|
तारों की छाँव में जब , तेरी डोली ससुराल जाएगी,
उस वक़्त मेरी आँख फिर से भर जाएगी ||
