Jewelry, My One Nonpareil Love....!!!! Part -1

Jewelry is a very spiritual thing for me and when I wear it I feel beautiful. It is a way of expression and a way of life to me. Since pre-teens I have been that girl who has been starry eyed for every beautiful jewelry piece that comes across her. I have always dreamt of my wedding day with  jewelry being the biggest part of the trousseau.
When the D day arrived I dug out my old scrapbooks and in sheer excitement marked all the pre-eminent pieces that I would like to own. I wanted that jewelry collection that has me looking put together for whatever formal event is on my calendar after marriage.
I have been a bride for more than a year now and have always been complimented for my jewelry. I don't own a vast collection of pieces but all my pieces are unique and comprehensive helping me cover all the festivities that I have to attend. Jewelry to me is that one thing that enhances my beauty and sensuality right from a ‘nathni’ to earrings to bangles to pajeb.
So here is some jewelry staples that you might need for your new life ahead.
Tevta
Tevta is native to rajasthan and few parts of haryana. It is made up of yellow gold often adorned with some meenakari and kundan work. It is usually in rectangle or a square shape and is worn with moti mala. This is very good from investment purpose as it mainly constitutes of Gold. I came across this design when I was 14 years old and added it to my wedding trousseau list. It adds grace to my dresses, making it perfect for a outfit that has light neckline. It elevates all my light, designer dresses and giving me that glamorous look. I pair them with Gold Jhumkas and a gold kada. The best part about them is that this design is not very common and  is a attention grabber.

Recently I spotted Socialite Rhea Kapoor wearing it on Sonam Kapoors wedding. Though I like my design way better but still the concept is same. You can find many designs for tevta on pinterest.

Polki Kundan Set
I remember being awestruck behind the curtains, watching mummy put on her jadau necklace with a silk sari, a beautiful memory etched in my mind. As my D day arrived, it was my time to finally own that crown piece of jewel. For my wedding Day I chose a Kundan Polki set enameled in green color. It complimented my maroon lehanga and captured the portrait of a perfect looking bride. This one piece adds a whole new layer to an outfit. I chose such a necklace that can be used both with traditional and  modern attire. I paired it with a kundan nath from the house of Hazoorilal Jewellers. You can choose kunda over polki as polki jewelry is 10 times expensive than the kundan ones. I usually wear this piece on a lehenga or a deep colored gown to accentuate that look.

I spotted Chitrangana Sen wearing almost a similar set with a saree.

Marriage Poem:: Mother to Daughter

Mother is the happiest person on the earth when she gives birth to a daughter. Her daughter is a little gudiya with whom she relives her childhood. In this poem mother expresses her love on daughter's marriage.

Usually in a daughters marriage, mother is hesitant to dance or participate in lady sangeet. She can recite this poem and give her daughter an eternal gift.

Meri Beti :: Badi ho gayi hai

Hello All,
I came across this beautiful poem written on a marriage card. This poem is about fathers love for his daughter and the special bond that a father and daughter share. Fathers can share this poem on his daughter's birthday, on her wedding function such as lady sangeet or any other ocassion.

Meri beti thodi si badi ho gayi hai,
Kuch ziddi, kuch nak chhadi ho gayi hai.
Meri beti thodi si badi ho gayi hai..

Ab apni har baat manvane lagi hai,
Humko hi ab vo samjhane lagi hai,
Har din nayi nayi farmaishein hoti hai,
Lagta hai ki farmaishon ki jhadi ho gayi hai,
Meri beti thodi si badi ho gayi hai..

Agar daanta hun toh aankh dikhati hai,
Khud se gussa karke ruth jaati hai,
Usko manana bahut mushkil hota hai,
Gussae mein kabhi mirch kabhi phul jhadi ho gayi hai,
Meri beti thodi si badi ho gayi hai..

Jab vo hasti hai toh man moh leti hai,
Ghar ke kone mein uski mahak hoti hai,
Kai Baar uske ajeeb se sawal bhi hote hai,
Bus ab toh vo jaadu ki chhadi ho gayi hai,
Meri beti thodi si badi ho gayi hai..

Ghar aatehi dil usi ko pukarta hai,
"Mera" man sapne saare ab usi ke sawarta hai,
Duniya mein usko alag pehachaan banani hai,
Mere kadam se kadam mila kar ussae khada hona hai,
Meri beti thodi si badi ho gayi hai..

Tribute to Father :: Birthday, wedding, Hindi

Below poem is an ode/tribute to ones Father/Papa. I found it very touching and therefore thought of sharing with a bigger audience.

Jab mummy Daant rahi thi toh koi
Chhupke se hassan raha tha, Vo the Papa..

Jab main so rahi thi tab koi
Chupke se sir par haath phira raha tha, vo the papa..

Jab main subah uthi toh koi bahut thak kar bhi
Kaam par ja rha tha, Vo the papa..

Khud kadi dhoop mein reh kar
koi mujhe ac mein sula rha tha, Vo the Papa..

Sapne toh mere the par unhein poora karne ka
Rasta koi or btaiye ja rha tha, Vo the Papa..

Main toh sirf apni khushiyon mein hasti hun
par meri hassi dekh kar koi apne gam bhulaye ja rha tha, Vo the Papa..

Phal khane ki jyada zarurat toh unhein hai
par mujhe seb khilaye ja rhe the, Vo the Papa..

Khush toh bahut hona chaiye ki vo mujhe miley, par mere
janam lene ki khushi koi or manaye ja rha tha, Vo the Papa..

Ghar mein sab apna pyar dikhate hain par
koi bina dikhaye bhi itna pyar kiye ja rha tha, Vo the Papa..

Vida toh main ho rhi thi, par mujhse bhi
adhik aason koi or bahaye ja rha tha, Vo the Papa..

Main apni beti shabad ko saarthak bna sakti ya nahi
par koi bina swarth ke apne pita shabad ko saarthak banaye ja rha tha, vo the papa!

This is a great tribute to your father and can be used in events such as his birthday, marriage aniversary or some other functions. We should all gift it to our dear father. I have a hindi version of it as well. Leave a comment and I'll share with you.

"Gori se, Chhori se":: Lady Sangeet Script

We Baniyas/Marwari have a several traditional activities in Wedding. We have a secret desire that every event should be special , unique  and enjoyable. During Baan/Haldi we have a decent crowd and can organize the below mentioned activity.

It is a small play that can be performed in the grooms wedding where 2-3 girls can perform this act. It is a simple and sober act that cheers everyone up and make your haldi different from others. @ person can sing the song and other two can perform the act.

So the plays goes like this.

Hmare dulhe raja ke liye , hmari dulhan(brides name) ka rishta aaya hai. Dono pheli baar milte, kuch baatein krte hai... Ghar mein charcha rishte ke baarein mein. Hmare dulhe raja apni maya ke pass jaate hai or bade hi bhole andaaz mein kehte hai....

"{Bride Name} gori se, {Brides_home_Town} ki chhori se "
"Maiya Kara De Mero Byah"

Dulhe Raja apni maiya se nivedan krte hai bole "maiya"

"{Bride Name} gori se, {Brides_home_Town} ki chhori se "
"Maiya Kara De Mero Byah"
"{Bride Name} gori se, {Brides_home_Town} ki chhori se "
"Maiya Kara De Mero Byah"

Is par maiya{Grooms mother name} uttar deti hai, Bolti hai
"Umar Teri Chhoti Hai Nazar Teri Khoti Hai
Kaise Kara Du Tero Byah"
"Umar Teri Chhoti Hai Nazar Teri Khoti Hai
Kaise Kara Du Tero Byah"

Dulhe Raja ko apni maiya se is jaawaab ki umeed na thi

Vo apni maiya ko dhamki dete hai , Bole "Maiya"
"Jo Nahi Byah Karaye, Tujhse baat na krun"
"Jo Nahi Byah Karaye, Tujhse baat na krun"
Aaj Ke Baad Meri Maiya Teri Dahali Par Na Aau
Ayega Ab Re Maja -Re Maja ab Jeet Haar Ka  ,

"{Bride Name} gori se, {Brides_home_Town} ki chhori se "
"Maiya Kara De Mero Byah"
"Umar Teri Chhoti Hai Nazar Teri Khoti Hai
Kaise Kara Du Tero Byah"

Is par Maiya kehti hai
"Lipstick laali lga kar, Kitty Party mein vo jaegi"
"Apni saheliyon ke sang, Tash bhi khel kar aaegi"-2,
"Hukkum chalegi mujhpar Aangana Me bhi Dol dol kar"'
"Teri Baba ke Samne Vo Ghooghat bhi na Legi"-2
"{Bride Name} gori se, {Brides_home_Town} ki chhori se  "
"Kaise Kara Du Tero Byah"

Maiya Ki baat sun kar dulhe Raja bade hi namar bhaav se kehte hai

'Maiya Chandan Ki Chauki Par Maiya Tujh Ko Baithau
Apni {Bride Name}Se Charan Teri Dabvau
Tere Samne Maiya Vo Ghooghat Na Kholegi
Bhojan Mai Banwaunga Banwaunga Chhappan Prakar Ke"

"{Bride Name} gori se, {Brides_home_Town} ki chhori se "
"Maiya Kara De Mero Byah"

Sun Baaten Kanha Ki Maiya Baithi Muskay
Sun Baaten Kanha Ki Maiya Baithi Muskay

Nazar Kahi Lag Jaye Na Lag Jaye Na Mere Lal Ko -2
"{Bride Name} gori se, {Brides_home_Town} ki chhori se "
{Grooms Name}Kara Du Tero Byah
